The Mindful
Spending Journal
You do not need to make more money to feel free.
Sometimes you just need to notice the money
you already have and where it's going.
Why This Journal Exists
A $0 Day is a day with no financial transactions. If any money leaves you—whether by purchase, bill, subscription, or automatic payment—it isn’t a $0 Day.
Most money advice starts with a budget.
This one starts with a question.
Tracking dollars tells you where your money went. It rarely tells you why. It doesn't capture the coffee on the way to work, the quick stop at the store, the online purchase that seemed harmless, the extra item in your cart, or the takeout meal because you were too tired to cook.
This journal isn't about guilt or perfection. It's about honesty and awareness. Each $0 day is an opportunity to pause, reflect, and ask yourself a simple question:
Be curious. Challenge your habits. Step outside your comfort zone.
Why $0 Days Matter
A $0 day interrupts autopilot.
It asks you to pause before the tap of a card or the click of a button, and to notice that every purchase begins with a story.
Sometimes those stories are true. Sometimes a warm cup of coffee is exactly what your soul needs.
But sometimes, we spend without ever asking why.
Over time, you’ll discover that this journal isn’t really about spending less. It’s about becoming more aware of the stories you tell yourself, the habits you’ve stopped noticing, and the choices that truly align with what you value.
How to Use This Journal
Each month follows the same simple rhythm:
There’s no perfect way to do this. Some months will have more green squares than others. That’s not failure — that’s information. Just keep noticing.
What Counts
A $0 Day means exactly what it says.
No money was spent today. No purchases. No payments. No exceptions.
There are no categories. No loopholes. No negotiations.
This journal doesn't separate spending into good or bad, essential or non-essential. A dollar spent is a dollar spent.
This isn't about perfection. It's about paying attention.
The Mindset
The goal isn't to collect the most $0 days. The goal is to notice how often spending has become the default — and to discover that it doesn't always have to be.
Stay curious.
This journal isn't here to judge you. It's here to help you understand yourself.
When you spend, ask yourself:
— What story was I telling myself?
— What need was I trying to meet?
— Would I make the same choice again?
Every purchase has a reason. The more curious you become, the more intentional your choices will be.
Write it Out
Use this space to write out your thoughts and review them — or write a letter to yourself.
This journal ends here. Your reflection does not. Write yourself a letter. Let it answer questions like these:
— When you started this journal, what did you expect?
— How has your relationship with spending changed?
— What do you value more now?
— What did you discover about yourself?
— What does “enough” mean to you today?
With love,
This is just the beginning.
This Is Just the Beginning
Months from now, you'll look back at these pages and see not just what you didn't spend — but what you noticed, what you valued, and who you became along the way.
With love,
“Enough is not a number.
It's a feeling you get to define.”
